Set during the wildly decadent 1920s Hollywood, Babylon follows the rise and fall of several characters during the transition from silent films to talkies in what’s been described as a “delirious, lurid, and sprawling concoction” (Barry Hertz, The Globe and Mail). From La La Land director Damien Chazelle, it’s an R-rated, three-hour extravaganza that stars Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Diego Calva, Jean Smart, Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li and others. Reviews have been mixed, but Robbie and Calva have been touted for Oscar nods.
