Lupin

Summary:

The French heist drama Lupin became an international sensation early this year, snagging the largest audience ever for a Netflix series not in English, according to Netflix itself. It became such a hit because of the cool star Omar Sy exudes as the gentleman thief Assane Diop, who comes up with an elaborate scheme to rob a wealthy business tycoon. His motive is personal—he’s out to get revenge on the evil Hubert Pellegrini (Hervé Pierre), who framed his father for stealing a diamond necklace 25 years before. The next batch of five episodes will find Assane trying to rescue his son from Pellegrini, whose henchman kidnapped him at the end of Part 1, while dealing with the fact that detective Youssef Guedira (Soufiane Guerrab) knows he’s Lupin. If it’s anything like the first half of the season–and there’s no reason to suspect it won’t be–it will be fun, slick, and extremely well made.
