While a deeply moving tribute to those we have lately come to call “heroes,” this proves they’ve been heroes all along.

There’s sorrow and there’s pity in Letter to You, but there’s also joy, and that’s what stands out the most after the tape stops and that final chord rings out.

Taken together, the installments offer a non-exhaustive mosaic of immigrant experiences. Little America’s guiding principle is its not-so-subtle affirmation of its characters’ humanity, an artistic intention that’s noble given the current political (and entertainment) climate but sometimes too lofty for its own good.

It’s addictive and highly enjoyable, and a tad triggering — but, you know, in a healthy and cleansing kind of way.

Little Voice is a charming coming of age tale which strikes just the right balance between winsome and world-weary.
