So many streaming services, so many Cyber Monday deals. But which of these streamers have enough of the TV shows and movies you will actually watch? And how much will you really save? We broke down the best deals and what they’re really offering.
1. For Watercooler Hits, FX, SNL, and Broadcast Favorites: Hulu
The best deal out there is this no-brainer for cord-cutters: Hulu for $.99 a month—for an entire year. That’s $12 a year vs the usual $84 a year, and it allows two people to stream simultaneously (on multiple devices).
Why Hulu? Right on the heels of Netflix and Amazon, Hulu has watercooler-worthy original series like Handmaid’s Tale, The Great, Dopesick, Y The Last Man, and Wu-Tang, An American Saga.
But Hulu is also home to FX hits like American Crime Story: Impeachment, Atlanta, What We Do in the Shadows and many others. National Geographic Channel favorites like the Genius and Hot Zone franchises are another draw, but next-day broadcast network hits like SNL, Big Sky, La Brea, Love Island, Home Economics, and Ordinary Joe are a relief for cord-cutters realizing they can’t watch the latest big TV hits.
How much will I save? $72. That’s legit.
When does Hulu’s Cyber Monday deal expire? Tuesday, November 30th. So jump on it.
2. For Live News, Sports, Cable, and Nostalgia: YouTube TV
The first stop for many cord-cutters looking for a live TV, live sports, and many of their basic cable channels is YouTube TV. For Cyber Monday and Tuesday, the platform is just $15 a month for the first month—after a one month free trial. That includes unlimited cloud DVR storage along with rewind, fast forward, and pause capabilities.
Why YouTube TV? At the usual $65 a month, it’s not exactly cheap, but it’s the cheapest place to get the NFL Network, MLB Network, and NBA games. It’s also where you can get your live local news, MSNBC, CNN, FS1, The Food Network, BET, and Comedy Central, and a total 85+ other channels.
How much do I save? Counting the one month free trial, you’re saving $115.
When does the YouTube TV Cyber Monday deal end? You have until end of day Tuesday, November 30th (PT). Try it here.
3. Best deal for Replacing Cable and Premium Channels: YouTube TV’s Premiums Deal
Imagine getting all of the coveted premium cable channels for just $.99 for two months–the peak streaming months of December and January.
Why get premium channels through YouTube TV? If you’ve replaced cable with YT TV basic, can satisfy your premium channel FOMO here as well. They include all of the sexier, edgier, more international series across channels like Starz, Showtime, Epix, AMC Plus, Sundance Now, Cinemax, and 16 others. Pick a few or try them all, and be ready for whatever visitors or moods you might be in through the holidays and dead of winter.
How much will I save? The premium add-on channels usually cost between $2 to $11 per month, so you could save over $100.
When does YouTube TV’s add-ons deal end? Sign-up by end of day Tuesday, November 30th. Find it here.
4. For Fans of Billions, Dexter, Couples Therapy, The Tudors, and Classic Movies: Showtime
Better than the two-month add-on channels deal that YouTube TV is offering, Showtime’s Cyber Monday deal offers new direct subscribers a 71 percent discount on a five-month membership.
Why Showtime? While the premium channel may not have as many hits as HBO, but its original series are often as addicting and critically acclaimed. They include six seasons of Billions, for Succession fans; the one-of-a-kind Dexter, which is back with a long-awaited sequel; breakout reality series Couples Therapy, which doubles as free counseling; and The Tudors, the perfect holiday binge watch for viewers missing The Crown this time of year.
For the family viewing and holiday visitors, Showtime also delivers on classics you can watch with the little ones like Babe, or the older kids and their grandparents, like Reese Witherspoon’s Pleasantville and Meryl Streep’s escape-to-Greece musical hit Mamma Mia.
How much will I save? You’ll start with a 30-day free trial, then pay $3.99 a month for four months. That’s a $39 savings, as Showtime is usually $11 a month.
When does Showtime’s Cyber Monday Deal end? It ends at midnight PT on November 30th, 2021. Get it here.
5. For Fans of Travel, Food, Oprah, DIY, Animals, and MotorTrend: Discovery Plus
If you’ve been waiting for a reason to try Discovery Plus, new subscribers can get the first three months of the service’s ad-supported plan for just under $3.
Why Discovery Plus? Discovery Plus is the reality streaming network with range, an umbrella service for fans of the Travel Channel, The Food Network, HGTV, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), and, of course, Discovery (MythBusters, Naked and Afraid) and Discovery Life (Trauma in the ER, Diagnose Me).
This is the place where your practical side gets to learn new things while satisfying your escapist fantasy side. It brings together the Property Brothers and Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Network, Anthony Bourdain’s adventures, The Food Network and Cooking Channel shows, and an endless loop of cute and comforting TV for animal lovers and their pets. But it also includes several new originals that are exclusive to the service, like Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis Eat, Flay, Love.
