The obvious comparison point is The Twilight Zone; that Black Mirror is a worthy successor is the highest praise that can be paid.

A film of great hilarity, humanity, idiosyncrasy and grade-A, eyebrow-singeing raunch.

Tonal breaches are what gives the series its vitality, what makes it the playful, irresistible melodrama it is, rather than the stuffy or rote history lesson it might have otherwise been.

The final Harry Potter movie, above all others, supplies Radcliffe with the gravitas of not just an epic story come to completion, but some real dramatic heft. Not so bad for a Hogwarts dropout.

Of all the drama pilots I watched, this is my favorite.
