Though Sorrentino’s vision of moral chaos and disorder, spiritual and emotional emptiness at this moment in time is even darker than Fellini’s…he describes it all in a pleasingly creative way that pulls audiences in through humor and excess.

Arguably you shouldn’t miss any of The Hollow Crown. But the one you’re commanded to watch is Richard II.

A Matrix Reloaded-like cliffhanger reminds that this is only the second installment out of four (good lord), but at least the flick leaves us with more than a tinge of interest in whom the odds will favor next.

Like the best moments of ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ or ‘Waiting for Guffman,’ ‘The Office’ offers up breathtaking slices of deadpan humor and amazing comic timing.

This version has a brisker pace than the fine French original, though it wouldn’t be called action-packed. With its ominous and dark undertone, call it cerebral sci-fi.

A marvel of well-rounded characters, strong performances and disarming chemistry, this deeply felt film is like a loving elegy to the end of childhood. It’s easily one of summer’s best films.
