Rocketman is magnificent and ridiculous, a feathered melanage of cliches and originality, of respectful homage and unrepentant nostalgia. Sometimes it’s comfortingly conventional; other times it’s gloriously off the charts. Even when it doesn’t quite work, it’s just so damn alive, meeting right at the intersection of the human heartbeat and the also-human love for shiny things.

Austen would have loved it.

Nitpicks aside, Shazam! is just a lightning bolt of unexpected joy that is certainly worth your time and money.

Sherman’s Showcase is above all – and most importantly – just plain funny

At a half-hour, Song of Parkland is too darn short. And some perspective from the parents of the teens here would have been welcome.

Songland comes across as thoughtful and intimate, and it’s a welcome addition to the creativity competition genre.
