The breakout college-set comedy from Mindy Kaling returns for a third season — taking us into the four roommates’ sophomore year after leaving off on a Season 2 cliffhanger. You should probably watch the final episode of S2 at least before jumping into S3. This one is aiming to be a Thanksgiving Break binge watch for everyone from teens on up, and consider it as an antidote to the darker college coming of age shows like Hulu’s Tell Me Lies and Amazon’s new Cruel Intentions.
Blitz
Set in England during WWII, a London mother (Saoirse Ronan) sends her 9-year-old son away to save him from the German blitzkrieg in the English countryside, but the boy becomes determined to find his way back home in what becomes a treacherous journey that sheds light on rarely seen perspectives from the war. Director Steve McQueen adds his artistic and musical flair to create what Vanity Fair‘s Richard Lawson describes it as “a mighty vision of chaos and fire, of music and movement, of a city churning to sustain itself.” (Read the review) The film arrives on Apple TV+ today after premiering in theaters for three weeks.
