Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero

%%tb-image-alt-text%%
Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero

Kicking off at an opulent party at a seaside estate featuring a tennis star, his wife, and his ex-wife (said to be inspired by David and Victoria Beckham), the BBC’s latest Agatha Christie adaptation, set in 1936, focuses more on events leading up to a murder, with complex motives and overlaps to unravel. It also stars Anjelica Huston and Oliver Jackson-Cohen and several other familiar faces. “It is well written and well acted, a romantic distraction from our many modern woes, and like any new Christie adaptation feels like the sun coming out after a long winter.” – Carol Midgley, The Times (UK). Government Cheese

A surreal comedy set in 1969 California, Government Cheese follows eternal optimist and recently released inmate Hampton Chambers (David Oyelowo) as he tries to reconnect with his wife and kids and launch his invention, the Bit Magician. Best baseball movie for middle aged men

Eephus

%%tb-image-alt-text%%
Eephus

A tribute to small towns, adult rec leagues, and the power of baseball to create community, Eephus is for anyone who remembers the Bad News Bears.  It follows two recreational baseball teams filled with aging men as they play their final game on a field doomed for demolition, and it features two Red Sox legends (you will have to watch it to see which ones).  Now streaming on PVOD platforms like Apple, Amazon, and Fandango at Home. “Its pearls of practical wisdom and jewels of melancholic wit make Eephus a gem, which is fitting, for a movie about a game played on a diamond.” – Jessica Kiang, Variety
